Getting intoxicated by alcohol while at work is a serious case, which is why a nurse attorney is needed if you get accused of this kind of scenario. However, there are some nurses who thought they were guilty of the charges failed to hire a nurse attorney just because they thought it’s the doom for their license already. But that is not entirely the case as there is still hope.

Unfortunately, an LVN from Houston failed to do this. This results in disciplinary action from the Texas Board of Nursing. Always keep in mind that the Texas Board of Nursing handles all of the cases that may affect the license from receiving the suspension, disciplinary action, or revocation. However, with a right nurse attorney for the case, rest assured that the case can go according to the nurse’s favor, especially if the LVN has a good defense against the case.

On or about July 12, 2017, while employed in a healthcare center in Dallas, the LVN exhibited unusual behavior and slurred speech while on duty. She also had to hold on to a fellow employee as she walked down the hall. The LVN also appeared to be sleepy and was unable to follow simple commands. When asked for a specimen for a urine drug screen, the LVN resulted positive.

Furthermore, the LVN admitted that she had taken a drug called Soma three days prior to her unusual behavior and slurred speech. Her conductcould have affected her ability to recognize any signs or symptoms in a patient’scondition. Further, the RN’s condition could have affected her ability to makerational decisions which might lead to the patient’s potential danger.

Because of this, the LVN was summoned by the Texas Board of Nursing to defend her side. She admitted that she drank alcohol and used controlled substances before her shift. She also stated that she is currently undergoing therapy and rehabilitation for the use of controlled substance. Therefore, the Board of Nursing decided to extend her disciplinary proceedings for several more years to ensure that she will perform even better in the future.

If you’re facing cases such as this, and you think that additional disciplinary action should not be applied anymore, then be sure to hire a nurse attorney who can fully assist you. Texas nurse attorney Yong J. An is an experienced nurse attorney for more than 14 years. To contact him for inquiries or to schedule a confidential consultation, dial (832) 428-5679 to proceed.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

I consider Yong as the biggest blessing in my life for this year. While I was practicing as a professional nurse in Texas, I received an order from the BON limiting my practice. This was problematic for me since I wanted to continue working for my employer. Yong was the one who wrote a reply letter to the Board and explained my innocence. He made all the necessary arrangements, which led to the issuance of an order in my favor…

I searched for a Texas lawyer who is good at handling nursing defense cases. During my research, I came across the website of Mr. Yong. I read positive comments from his previous clients, which made me become more interested in what he does. Because of this, I tried to send a message via the website. What made me really happy was the fact that a member of his team responded right away! He was so nice to me. I wish there won’t come a time that I would require the services of a lawyer. But right now, I have to say that I will recommend his firm to those who are in need!

The nice thing about Mr. Yong is that he is an expert in the legal aspect of the nursing industry. He has this ability in helping clients to feel calm and more relaxed while the case is going on. With his efforts, he was able to dismiss the case filed against me. I was able to keep my nursing license because of him. My case was quite difficult but he won! This only shows that he is an amazing and skilled lawyer in Texas.
