The RN maintains the charge nurse stated they would have to let the patient leave in her significant other’s truck since she had been discharged and that is what the patient wanted to do. The RN, charge nurse, and nursing assistant then transported the patient to the truck and made sure she was safe and comfortable. Walking back into the hospital, the RN tried to contact her house supervisor again and this time was successful.
The RN notified her of what had occurred, and the house supervisor arranged to have the patient stopped before she left the hospital parking lot. The patient later left by ambulance. The RN asserts no harm occurred to the patient.
