In response to the above incident, RN states that she does not recall the occurrence and questions why she would need to falsify documentation when she has the ability to change the timing of the medication. RN states that it is very easy to get behind on certain things when you are in an intensive care unit situation as there are multiple things going on at any given time that can interfere with the flow of an assignment.
The above action constitutes grounds for disciplinary action in accordance with Section 301.452(b)(10)&(13), Texas Occupations Code, and is a violation of 22 TEX. ADMIN. CODE §217.11(1)(A),(1)(C)&(1)(D) and 22 TEX. ADMIN. CODE §217.12(1)(B),(4)&(6)(A).
However, without enough evidence to prove she’s not guilty, the RN lost the case. This is the reason why the Texas Board of Nursing placed her RN license under disciplinary action.
