It is very important that patients will receive the proper care they need during their stay at the hospital for their treatment. It will never be good for patients if they are receiving less than enough care that it should be. The incident below shows how an RN in Abilene, Texas improperly administered a medication to a patient. If any RNs would do such negligence, consequences will surely follow. There will be a lot of complaints coming from the patient itself or from the family; you can also be summoned by the Board for such matters. If this will happen, never forget that a nurse attorney can help you deal with such a problem.

At the time of the incident, the RN was employed at a hospital in Abilene, Texas, and had been in that position for two (2) months,

It was on or about August 5, 2019, an RN improperly administered nitroglycerin to a patient, a patient with chest pain, in that the RN administered the entire vial of approximately twenty (20) pills to the patient in a single dose, instead of one tablet every five (5) minutes up to three (3) doses, as ordered. The RN’s conduct was likely to injure the patient in that failure to administer medications as ordered could have resulted in non-efficacious treatment.

In response to the incident, the RN states that he assumed that drugs in the Emergency Department were in single-use containers, and with that assumption in mind, administered the entire vial of medication. The RN states that he learned from the incident that he should always check the medication administration record and review the rights of medication administration prior to giving medication.

As a result, the RN will receive a disciplinary sanction from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). Upon the investigation, the evidence received was sufficient and is pursuant to Section 301.452(b)(10)&(13) of the Texas Occupations Code. This will badly affect his nursing license if the RN will not act fast to defend himself from the case filed against him. Hiring a nurse attorney is the best option for the R to help him solve his case.
