Nurses are somewhat considered by some patients as their guardian angels. As they are the ones who are always there to take care of them during their stay at a hospital or whenever there is no family to care for them. But a patient’s life can also be put in danger if an RN is negligent in providing care for a patient. If an RN makes such a mistake, a nurse attorney can greatly help you with the case.
At the time of the initial incident, an RN was employed as a Registered Nurse at a hospital in Brownsville, Texas, and had been in that position for one (1) year and five (5) months.
The incident happened on or about October 3, 2019, the RN had discontinued a central line for a patient; however, the RN inappropriately applied pressure to the insertion site utilizing a non-sterile towel to control bleeding from the insertion site. The RN’s conduct exposed the patient to risk of injury from infection.
In response, the RN states she was unfamiliar with the patient’s type of central line. And she also states that the patient bled profusely and the sterile gauze pads became saturated, and when she asked another nurse to bring her something to apply pressure, the other nurse provided her with a clean washrag instead of sterile gauze. The RN used the clean towel over the saturated sterile gauze to stop the patient’s profuse bleeding and then dressed the site with an occlusive dressing.
As a result, the RN had to face disciplinary action from the Texas Board of Nursing as a consequence of her unprofessional conduct. Such consequence is unavoidable if you failed to hire a nurse attorney for your case.
