On or about November 12, 2018, an LVN from Houston lacked fitness to practice nursing in that she was observed sleeping while on duty. Consequently, she failed to give the patient lunch and a bath during this time. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that it adversely affected her ability to recognize subtle signs, symptoms or changes in the patient’s condition, and could have affected her ability to make rational, accurate, and appropriate assessments, judgments, and decisions regarding patient care, thereby placing the patient in potential danger.

Because of this, a complaint was filed against the LVN.

During the hearing, the LVN admits she fell asleep for approximately two (2) hours while on duty and because of this, the patient was not provided lunch or a bath.

The Texas Board of Nursing sent a letter to the LVN regarding the issue so then she can have the chance to defend herself. However, she was not able to provide a good defense for herself. Therefore, the Board placed her LVN license to a disciplinary action instead.
